When you aren’t working, what are you usually doing?
“I spend a lot of time in my garden! During the pandemic it was very helpful to have that kind of space. I grow mainly veggies, but I also have some citrus trees – oranges and lemons. I got into all kinds of tomatoes, squash, eggplant, okra. It’s a good way for me to play in the dirt and collect worms! Worms are a gardener’s best friend.”
Do you support any sports teams?
“The Broncos! I was born and raised in Colorado, so I’ve been a Broncos and Nuggets fan my whole life. I was there when we got the Rockies and Avs! I’m a huge hockey fan; I went to college in the northeast and the Avs had just won the Stanley Cup when I went to college, so I really got into the hockey world up there, going to Bruins games. I love it! I really love the Avs.”
What’s your favorite part of your job?
“It’s so people-centric. It’s really nice to be able to meet and interact with so many different people. Whether it’s people across Fluid Truck, or elected officials, government staff, as Fluid looks to other parts of the world – it’s continuing to get to know people and different cultures.“
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
“Be patient and kind. I heard it a lot later in my career, but it’s like, we get that advice when we’re in kindergarten, and it seems to be so useful throughout your whole life.“
Do you have a favorite line from a movie or book?
”Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” – From MLK Jr.’s Letter from the Birmingham Jail.
If you had a TED Talk, what would it be about?
“Why it’s important to get involved with your local government. One reason is, there’s such a privilege of being able to live in our open democratic society. It comes with some level of responsibility. The day-to-day life is actually impacted by the people who are making decisions and creating policy and implementing policy. Whether it’s at the city council level, or school level, or county government– Getting to know who those people are and how those systems work, potentially participating and running for local positions or volunteering for appointed positions is one of the privileges and responsibilities of living here.”
If you could have a Fluid Truck full of one thing, what would it be?
“Everything I need for my garden – supplies, plants, seeds, soils, worms, all that stuff.”
What’s your favorite snack?
“There are these little kid biscuits from India called Parle-g. Indian chai with parle-g biscuits – it takes me back to hanging out with my grandparents. My mom’s style chai is so good.”
Why would you tell someone to come work at Fluid Truck?
“The leadership and the culture and values, ingenuity, while remaining customer-centric. “
