What’s your favorite part of your job?
I love getting to know people, whether it’s within the company or going out and meeting with small businesses. I love hearing people’s stories, understanding what they do, and what they’re passionate about.
What motivates you at work?
The thing that motivates me the most at Fluid Truck is helping people. Whether it’s helping my peers or helping small businesses solve problems — that’s what makes this gratifying.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I’ve been advised to always take time to reflect. Reflect on your wins, on your opportunities, on where you've been and where you want to go. You don’t want to just rush through things but rather take time to think about what you really want and what you’re really good at.
If you could have a Fluid Truck full of anything, what would it be?
I’d want a personal library. I’m an avid reader and that would be too cool.
What do you like to do outside of work?
One thing that I love to tell people about is our Drag Show community in Cleveland. If you’ve never been to one, I highly recommend that everyone tries it out! There’s a sense of community and fun that you truly don’t get anywhere else and everyone is welcome.
What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?
I can’t say I’ve ever had a job that I didn’t enjoy in one way or another. I’ve been very lucky. One thing that did come up in my other job is I had to respond to alarm calls in the middle of the night. That always led to funny conversations with law enforcement because often I had only been awake for five or six minutes before making the call. You can imagine the words that come out of your mouth at 2 a.m. on little sleep.
Do you have any unique family traditions?
We love to play board games. That’s not unique in its own way, but we’re very competitive in a unique way. Ever since I was able to play games at 4 or 5 years old, I immediately learned that no one was ever going to help me win. I’m finally at a point in my life where I get to pass that on to the next generation.
If you could have dinner with three people (dead or alive) who would you invite?
I want to have dinner with my favorite author: Kurt Vonnegut. I bet he has TONS of stories to tell. My favorite singer: Ella Fitzgerald. And my favorite comedian: Sean Lock.
What’s your biggest guilty pleasure?
My biggest guilty pleasure is ghost hunting shows. I don’t believe in ghosts but the overacting you see on those shows, the reactions, I find them hilarious.
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I have an unhealthy obsession with peanut butter. As a kid I’d just eat jars of it. Even now, I try to find ways to incorporate it by adding a scoop of peanut butter to whatever I’m eating.
What would you tell someone who wants to come work at Fluid Truck?
I’d just say this is a company that truly lets you work with your strengths and makes room for your passions. I’ve never worked anywhere before that truly utilizes its people to their maximum and lets them work on what they know they're good at.
