What’s your favorite part of your job?
The team! Coming here and knowing that I'm working with people and facing challenges together, we have mutual support and respect for each other's work. I think it's the best knowing that I have a good team I can rely on.
You know, these things–– mutual respect, support, empathy, ––open the door to make friends. The people here at Fluid Truck are really interesting and nice.
When you aren’t working, what are you usually doing?
You can find me at concerts! I love going to concerts and I love music a lot. I really love to explore the local music scene.
I also love cinema a lot, I really love going to the movies or going to friend's hours or having people over to watch and talk about movies, discussing like the little snobs we are. The photography, the soundtrack, I love talking about it.
The best movie I've seen in theaters recently was Anatomy of a Fall. it's a French film - I was waiting for it for so long and it really didn't disappoint! It's a thriller, but it deals with people's moral gray areas and personal relationships and stuff. I highly recommend it!
I also really like going to exhibitions, especially for photography. I love to see the local talent. And of course hanging out with friends.
Do you have any secret talents?
I play guitar, and I'm a photographer. Guitar is my actual passion [Luzmaira has a guitar hanging in the background of her video calls!]
I always wanted to be in a band, or be a bass player in a really cool band. Most people don't know that I play an instrument. And I love photography! I've taken some of the Slack pictures [of the Fluid Truck team] that you see.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Embrace challenge through curiosity, and with an open mind. We are living in times where everything changes -- the company itself is ever-changing. Take those challenges with an open mind, see them as an opportunity to grow, improve, and expand your knowledge so it can be used later in life.
In Argentina we have a saying: The cheese is in the sandwich. Trust the process. Facing challenges through curiosity and an open mind will pay off.
If you could have a Fluid Truck full of one thing, what would it be?
I just got a turntable, so I can imagine the cargo space of a van being a record store, spending hours finding music from every decade, every part of the world, listening and having fun. Vinyls! Totally.
What motivates you at work?
I think helping –– I really like helping my teammates and our customers. Helping people motivates me, helping my fellow agents to face challenges together and find solutions for customers that come with whatever they need help with.
If you had a TED Talk, what would it be about?
It would be about music I think, I love talking about music. I love the 90's. I'm really happy about how it's coming back in fashion and music and everything. It was very diverse and a really rich period of music.
I'd like to talk about the 90's impact on culture today. Some decades fade in time, but I think the 90's will always come back –– I'd love to discuss that cultural impact. It was a turning point for history –– like, what is the internet? Seeing people dealing with it. I wouldn't have a TED talk though. They're supposed to be inspiring. It would be a podcast –– I’d invite people over to talk about a record that they love.
Do you have a guilty pleasure?
I'm a huge fan of J-Lo. Long live Jennifer Lopez! She's a pop icon. Bringing Latino influence to the US and to pop music in the early 00’s, and I really love her music.
What would you tell someone who wants to come work at Fluid Truck?
The people! Again. But I also think it's really enlightening to work for the BA team in another part of the world. It gives you knowledge that I don't know I'd have in other ways. YOu learn about laws, how people are, how they deal with business and a service. Being part of a company that has a hybrid team helps you to understand how it works in other parts of the world.
Also the team is really supportive, very cool, very fun to work with. But also when things need to be done, we are all very serious and supportive, so I think it would be the people and the knowledge that you get working for a company that has a goal to grow and grow and grow. It gives you insight into how a startup works, and then you see it growing to be a big corporation and how you can be present in that transition and how it changes from a startup to a huge company. It's very interesting, it's given me a lot of knowledge.
