Welcome to Fluid Truck’s Trucker Spotlight blog! We love highlighting our awesome Truckers and introducing you to the great people behind Fluid Truck.

At Fluid Truck, our product is people. We bring in smart, talented people with a lot of ambition and give them the opportunity to grow and expand their skill sets rapidly. Our end goal is to equip every person who joins our team with the skills they need to one day grow beyond us and create incredible things on their own. Interviews are edited for clarity.

Today, we're thrilled to shine the spotlight on Manuman M., one of Fluid Truck’s original employees who started almost five years ago. Manuman's journey from a customer service agent to a supervisor for the billing team is a testament to the growth and development opportunities at Fluid Truck. Let's dive into his story and get to know more about her day-to-day life, motivations, and unique interests!

Tell us a little about your day-to-day at Fluid Truck.

I'm a supervisor for the Billing team that works in Finance, and the Internal Collections Department that is the Operations Team. I have been at Fluid Truck for almost 5 years. I’m reaching my 5 year anniversary in a month or two. I started as a customer service agent when we were getting hardly emails a day and no phone calls. So it's been a long ride with Fluid Truck!

What’s your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of my job is working together with the people on my team. Even though I have a supervisor role, we work as peers. I wouldn't be where I am today, or perform how I perform, if it wasn't for them. Being able to rely and trust so many people and share knowledge and learn things with other people in other departments is the best. The Fluid community is my favorite part of this job!

When you aren’t working, what are you usually doing?

I'm not a morning person, so I don't do anything in the mornings, and because we finish work so late [due to the time change in Buenos Aires,] I only have a few hours outside of work. So on Mondays I do meal prep, and Tuesdays through Fridays I go to pilates, or the gym, and watch YouTube.

Do you have any pets?

I have a cat, her name is Doctor, and she is four. And I have a few other animals at my parents’ house – they're all named after soccer players.

What is your secret talent?

I wouldn't consider it a talent, but I think I can write and name Taylor Swift's entire discography. My friend and I played a quiz and I was able to do it, so that could be my talent.

Do you have a favorite song lyric?
“Your nemeses will defeat themselves before you get the chance to swing,”

 - Taylor Swift on “Long Story Short”

Or, "Lose your dreams and you'll lose your mind,"

– The Rolling Stones on “Ruby Tuesday”

What motivates you at work?

I think feeling like you're a part of something, or that you're being useful in some way. Like if something good gets released or big changes are made that improve the company – not getting credit, but just being part of it – says a lot about your personal development and the company's development. Having been part of a startup that turns into a corporation, being part of the table that set up the initial processes and turned it what it is today.

If you had a TED Talk, what would it be about?

I think it's obvious... It has to be Taylor Swift right? “The social aspect of using your power to lead your fans towards something that you need, and see it turn against you.”

If you could have a Fluid Truck full of one thing, what would it be?

Cheese puffs -- here in Argentina we have huge plastic bags full of un-branded cheese puffs - those are the best. Like, generic cheese puffs.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

At the beginning of my time at Fluid Truck, I struggled with delegating a lot. Then I got advice from Manu, which was given to her: "If you get hit by a bus tomorrow, you have to have people that could step in your position,” That was said to me several times so it's stuck with me, and now it's advice I give when people are moving into a leadership role. Delegate a lot. That advice is what really helped me to grow in my role, my position, and my career in the company.

Do you have a guilty pleasure?

I love watching the Kardashians. Their new reality show is like, really bad. but I still watch it. I love reality TV.
